relative temporal ordering of phenotype onset may be important for diagnosis. I think @mellybelly has some examples where a before b vs. b before a is a vital difference

absolutely agreed but what is not clear is what the tradeoffs are. Recording per-phenotype properties incurs a mild complexity penalty on the format, which is an impediment if Excel is to be a limiting factor
