Connect with other users not working?

When i click connect under a user;s profile page - and then go to settings under my account link it does not show that user as a connection in my account? How can i enable this function? or is there a way I can make it easier? IE - search user accounts while in new messages for instance?

is there a way i can make the user connection function easier - for instance let the user send a request to ANY user from the new message screen even if there isnt a connection - then they can connect from there?

sorry man, but i really don't know what you mean! there is nothing like a "user connection function" or so. Are you sure you are commenting in the right repository ?
