Thanks for the contribution. I’m not sure if we’ll get around to upgrading KaTeX anytime soon due to the risk of breakages across notebooks; it’s hard for us to upgrade safely since everyone is automatically upgraded.

If you want the latest version of KaTeX, perhaps you could consider using Observable Framework instead, which automatically uses the latest version (and self-hosts it, so you can control when you upgrade)?

Just for the sake of argument, are there other packages that are under similar circumstances like plot, d3, marked, etc.? In the context of not being able to upgrade due to the risk of breakages.

I understand your point and I don't have the full picture, I'm just being curious.

I haven't made the switch to Observable Framework but will look into it.
