Trouble grasping method for my use case

Hi,

I want to do something that I believe should be a fairly common use case, but I am not finding instructions or examples that help me conceptualize it:

Take an image from a file input element, edit it, then include the edited image in the form submit.

I notice that the load button from the UI uses a file input, so I could probably figure that part out, but I am confused about how to replace the original with the edited image in the form data.
