[IDEA] Add "Groups" or "Folders" to MCAL #5804
Comments
A suggestion for what could be a related feature or an alternative: a searchbox on top of the Connections column. PS I've just counted mine: 89 connections so far |
https://github.com/kayyagari/ballista is an open source replacement for MCAL and supports groups/folder/tree organization of instances. |
Major props to the Ballista dev team and contributors for this. I've been using it for a bit now and it works really well. I love being able to group my connections and search/filter them too.

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
It would be nice if MCAL supported the concept of groups (akin to channel groups in MC)
Describe your use case
As a developer who supports many customers with many environments and multiple instances in that environment, it would be nice to have some sort of nesting capability in MCAL for my connections. It would allow me to sort easier and keep my MCAL window a little cleaner and easier to maintain.
Describe the solution you'd like
Some sort of grouping similar to MC Channel Groups would be ideal. Even better if we could have nested groups.
Something like
Customer 1 > Production > Prod1, Prod2, Prod3 (as individual entries)
Describe alternatives you've considered
Create an MCAL install for each customer? That's way overkill though.
