Your idea

It would be nice if MuseScore packaged it's installer as an MSIX file for Windows, which can be easily done using something like the MSIX Packaging Tool.

Problem to be solved

This would give MuseScore for Windows:

  • Faster/lighter install speeds
  • Easy store publish & automatic updates.
  • Easier installation (for example MSIX does not require admin to install).

It's also just recommended by Microsoft.

Prior art

The previous version of MuseScore (MuseScore 3) did something similar for the store app by shipping as an APPX, and it was super helpful.
