Hi,

There used to be a Serving_a_different_domain.md document that told you what needed redirecting from a main domain if you wanted to run masotodon under a subdomain, you can see it e.g. here:

https://github.com/tootsuite/documentation/commits/a7cdb95ee9b4bddce58915d4feaf3ab03f18ce86/Running-Mastodon/Serving_a_different_domain.md

(I'm seeing lots of 404's to /.well-known/nodeinfo on my main site and was wondering if that needed adding as well which is why I was checking the docs)

If that is now depreciated or not supported in newer versions could there be a note in the upgrading docs instead.

/.well-known/nodeinfo is not a required path and does not affect how your instance works. What's hitting it are stats aggregators, you can safely ignore.
