Is there an existing issue for this?

  • I have searched the existing issues

Summary

The ability to configure subscribers for projects and modules within the software. Subscribers will receive notifications about all new issues created within the project or specific modules.

This feature is similar to what is available in Jira and has proven to be incredibly convenient and beneficial in project management. Implementing such a feature in your software would greatly enhance its usability and provide a more comprehensive solution for managing projects and tasks.

Why should this be worked on?

Benefits

  1. Enhanced Communication: Ensuring that all relevant stakeholders are automatically informed about new issues without manual updates.
  2. Improved Collaboration: Facilitating better coordination among team members by keeping everyone in the loop.
  3. Increased Efficiency: Saving time and effort by automating the notification process.

Implementation

  1. Project Level: Allow users to assign subscribers to an entire project, ensuring they receive notifications about all new issues within that project.
  2. Module Level: Provide the option to assign subscribers to specific modules within a project. This is particularly useful for larger projects where team members may only need to be aware of issues related to their specific modules.

Thank you for considering this request. I am confident that this addition would be highly appreciated by all users. Please let me know if you need any further information or clarification.

I see this feature request was automatically assigned to both of you @pushya22 and @srinivaspendem , much like what we're hoping to achieve with subscriber notifications. It looks like you already understand how convenient this feature could be! 😀

this is an interesting suggestion. we aren't sure of the UX of this yet. for example, what controls will we allow for notifications in a project or module? just Create issue or would some people also want notifications for removal of issues, changes to issues, changes to the member list? there are too many variables at the Project level and quite some at the Module level.

we will let you know when we have thought some more about this before we can confirm if we are doing this. hang in there.

Thank you for considering my suggestion! I understand that incorporating this feature into the UX can be complex. For the first version, you can keep it simple with basic settings.

The idea is to allow subscribers to be linked to a project or module and receive notifications based on their existing settings. Essentially, it would be similar to how users currently subscribe to issues.

By starting with this basic functionality, you can later expand and refine the feature based on user feedback and needs.

Thanks again for your consideration. I'm excited to see how this feature develops!

the direction is right, but just early-stage days, we guess. we will give this feature its due in a bit when we have moved some other items like our Pro plan out of the way.
