Steps to reproduce:
Create playlist

#EXTM3U
#EXTINF:-1,Error
http:https://255.255.255.255

play "Error" channel

Expected result: Error message/icon is shown
Actual result: Loading icon is spinning forever

Not quite sure I am having same problem as I am not creating a playlist but if we try to watch Japanese channels only a few work. The rest just sit there spinning away. May be similar for other languages. Let me know what I can do to help identify issue.
Using latest v of Hypnotix on latest version LinuxMint Cinnamon 21.2
