Add a Development branch #222

I would like to see a development branch in this repository. Pushing MRs to the development branch would be beneficial in multiple ways:

Faster integration of MRs in a branch
Faster end user feedback due to latest MRs

I am sure there are more benefits, but it is late at night and I cannot think anymore.
