Currently Hypnotix does not allow to hide sidebar, while not in full screen - could be another feature request, but PIP-feature would be even better. Also the minimal size of window is currently relatively big. For instance, using app mode in Chromium (chromium --app=URL) gives much better result and allows to use picture-in-picture (PIP) mode, if available online by channel. But Hypnotix could allow use picture-in-picture (PIP) as built-in feature in case of any channel. Certainly, that PIP-window should be automatically always-on-top window. Also allowing to change PIP-window location and size would be expected.

You you solve PIP in Hypnotix, is up to you. Some suggestions: with certain shortcut key, under mouse right-click menu, visible in GUI in next of full screen button when any channel is playing:

Example:

  • please, open an example online-TV with PIP-feature - https://www.tv7.ee/neti-tv/
  • click on the PIP-icon below, which works as a radio-button (turns PIP on, off by clicking multiple times)

  • you can change PIP-window size and location freely

That works in browsers. mpv does not have this feature.

It is possible to hide the sidebar and window decoration, I did that in hypnotixLite, a little gimmick in which I made a lot of things a little simpler.

I automatically hide the sidebar there when I play a channel.

Would it be possible to add a toggle in the header that hides all extraneousUI ? Basically reducing the window to a frame around mpv. To make it emulate PiP, users can then manually enable "show on visible workspace" and "always on top" for the window.

You want it to use the entire window but without the window going fullscreen? Some kind of a theater mode, is that it?
