There should be a filtered view of metrics.json which only displays a smaller number of metrics which are most commonly useful. Most of the time, the full detail provided by metrics.json is not necessary for debugging an issue and it can be difficult to find the needle in the proverbial haystack.

@adleong We are very interested on this one, do you have some idea how you want to do this.
e.g a configuration . with the selected metrics? I can def would work on this

I was thinking that the easiest way to do this would be to simply create a second endpoint called metrics-summary.json or something like that which prints out only certain metrics from the metrics tree.
