App crashes on launch, gigs of images trapped in phone #53

I recorded a ton of footage a little while back, and have been unable to upload it. Back then, the issue was just that I couldn't sign into the app so I did all the recording without being signed in. And every few days it pops up a little nag notification that I have images pending upload.

But now when I tap the notification, or just try to open the app directly, the screen flashes and it exits immediately. Can't do or change anything. And I don't dare reset the app and data, or I'll lose hundreds of km of yet-unmapped territory.

Help? Can I get the images off the phone some other way, perhaps to use the upload-scripts on them?

Maybe you can backup your phone to your Mac/PC, and then use one of the various (mostly trialware) backup reading utilities to extract the footage?

Welp, I found an app to do said backup, but haven't managed to extract anything from it, it's just a bunch of files with nonsense names. Like sifting through the file0000.chk of old, but back then things were manageable and mostly readable.

Any ideas why the app doesn't just do what the app is supposed to do? An updated app that works would seem the far easier way to salvage the footage.
