New GEOS-Chem feature or discussion

The new photolysis library for computing J-values, Cloud-J, requires aerosol concentrations rather than optical depths. These concentrations are not currently available in the mercury simulation. An update is needed to prepare and read in offline archived aerosol concentrations for the mercury simulation for use in Cloud-J. This is similar to what is currently done for legacy Fast-JX which requires aerosol optical depths.

For more information about Cloud-J and initial discussion of this issue, see #1522.
