Apply stroke behind shapes

When you apply stroke to an image the outlining extrudes outside the edge of the shape, but also paints over the inside of the edge as well. This can be observed clearly if you apply stroke with a width of 100.
Can you add an option to apply the stroke behind the shape instead?
