In laboratory testing, When plugged into a constant DC power supply, the Maxbotix sensor is very accurate almost a 100% of the time:

But when on the battery, the sensor readings are noisy with some anomalies:

This noise is due to interference of the two sensor pulses since they are placed side by side. This is tested and confirmed by carrying out an experiment on battery where there is no possibility of interference of the ultrasonic pulses.
