Problem Description

The Remnant Human Tech Retrieval mission vaguely asks for recently developed items. It can be fulfilled with items I didn't think would qualify such as heavy lasers.

Possible Solutions

  • Add a lot more alternative ways to complete the mission.
  • Add optional missions where you can consult with people at high tech planets in eg Kraz and Tarazed who can give you a concrete ideas.
  • When you enter an outfitter that contains an item that can fulfill the mission, pop up a e.g "hmm, maybe the Remnant would be interested in those plasma cannons" message.
  • Add a bunch of missions where if you bring a not quite good enough item (a non high tech weapon, shield, ramscoop, etc) a discussion ensues that tells you what you actually need to bring.

I never had trouble with this - just read the game files! 🤪

Having hints that pop up when you enter an outfitter that sells those things would be good, for sure.

That mission is, in fact, intended to accept more than just the six that it currently works with. Just the six were deemed "enough" for the purposes of moving on with the mission series. Also, I was hoping that there would be some better way of handling requirements. For example, I didn't want to create a separate mission for every single one of the atomic engines, but at the time there was no support for checking for "2 of any one of tiny/small/medium/large atomic engines" or "2 of heavy lasers or heavy laser turrets", etc. Didn't really want to create dozens of almost identical missions for all the different options.
