There is a severe bug in 2.0.15 (#2634 ) reported since almost 6 months ago, that prevents a lot of people from upgrading and hence living with the bugs that exists in previous versions.

Will there be any updates made to this project or do we need to look for another broker?

Looks like there is some activity in the develop branch.
I don't think mosquitto is dead, but i can only speculate in why no release has been made yet.

752 commits ahead of master.

As far as I recall a similar question was asked a while ago.

A dev referred to the dev-branch which sees a lot of action.

It is a bit strange that no new version has been released in a while though. I really hope it hasn't got anything to do with lack of incentive from the developers. Point being that a so called pro version of Mosquitto is also being offered. If the open source version was released frequently as relatively bug free and customizable product some might argue there would be less of a reason to pay for the pro version.

Anyway it would be nice to know if 2.1 is due anytime soon. I really like Mosquitto and from looking at the changelog mentioned above there seem to be a lot of cool features in the pipeline.

It's very much alive, but I have limited time to look at issues. 2.1 has been delayed by a variety of factors, an important one being that we were offered a security audit and wanted that to go ahead before making a big release. The audit is now finished, so there will likely be a 2.0.16 release soon, and 2.1 sometime after.
