How to create shared mosquitto library for Openwrt?

I am struggling with creating shared mosquitto lib for Openwrt using cross compile. Is there any example or instruction to do that?

Is there any particular reason you can't just use libmosquitto packaged for openwrt normally? It's been available in openwrt repositories since mosquitto version 0.15 in 2013.
