The tomcat manager application is present in the .tar.gz that I am installing. However, it gets deleted at https://github.com/cerner/cerner_tomcat/blob/v2.1.0/providers/default.rb#L66. That line nukes everything in the webapps directory after installing tomcat.

Would it be possible to add a new parameter to this cookbook which stops it from executing line 66 so that it will retain everything under webapps directory after installing tomcat? That would enable me to install tomcat manager (since the template option in this cookbook already makes it easy to deploy a conf/tomcat-users.xml file).

Yes that seems reasonable

Thanks.

I noticed that the .tar.gz that I'm using (from Cerner's repo) contains a ROOT application. So, there is a potential conflict there as I am installing my own application to the root context.

So, best for me would be to delete or overwrite the ROOT application from the .tar.gz while retaining the non-conflicting applications.
