  • How do you intend to use the data? (e.g. compare my site to others, global synthesis, my timescales of interest (diurnal, seasonal, or interannual))
"It might be worth adding an open-ended and/or multiple choice question on how the person generally intends to use the data (e.g. compare my site to others, global synthesis, my timescales of interest (diurnal, seasonal, or interannual), etc. etc.) In our experience, people (including us!) are pretty bad at predicting what they will actually need unless they sit down and walk through the steps of their potential analysis. We tend to go much more on gut instinct of "that sounds important". Therefore, having people say what they might plan to do can be more informative than what they think they need. Also, it could allow you to group different users together and see if their stated needs are consistent with each other. Finally, it could help people focus their own priorities as they are completing the rest of the form."

  • Is the data ongoing or complete?
"the list already provided is great. It might be useful to know whether the data collection is still ongoing or completed byt the time of data submission"
