Your summary doesn't say you ever installed frigate itself, did you? |

You should start with the installation page which explains how to install frigate itself and even discusses the very thing you were confused about You can then configure frigate https://docs.frigate.video/guides/getting_started#configuring-frigate finally, after frigate itself is running, you can connect the frigate integration to it |

Ok let's take a step back. This manual is great for people who already know what's going on. You help develop the software so you have too much information. You already know too much compared to the average new user. I'm having a hard time with it because I don't know any of the information that you have. The manual for me, as an end user, goes back and forth without explaining why. Edit: just in case, this isn't a jab. I know text can come over badly without looking at someones face and seeing someones facial expression and hearing someones voice. It's just very confusing for me as a new user. I'm just tying to explain what I'm running into so hopefully others can have an easier time in the future. When I click the installation link you give me, I see "including as a HassOS Addon." So I scroll down to that and I see this:
Then I go to the other link. First thing I see is:
I can't even run the software so I never tried creating a config file. That's usually the last step after the software runs. I created the frigate.yml file accordingly, combining the stock one with the unifi part that's somewhere else in the manual:

In the current version of frigate, you must create a config file before running it. This is noted in the installation docs. (in the next version a default config will be created if none exists). The config you have there is invalid. I would suggest just starting with the default config exactly so frigate will start up. Then you can use the built in config editor |

Ok so I changed it to this, which was in the link you gave me:
I added it a bit late, but I added this to my previous reply, just to clarify something, after the part where I said you know too much:
Someone else set up my home assistant for me many years ago and I'm trying to start over again myself, running the new system next to the old system, hopefully learning how it works in the process. First thing I want to tackle is the camera's as years ago I had Frigate running (again, didn't set it up myself) and it was wonderful until the camera's failed (hardware). I currently have a Unifi system and it's horrible. It starts and ends with false positives. I have so many pictures of birds and such. I like birds but I don't like constant messages on my phone that my camera's saw a bird. I get about 50-100 of those a day. It's not helping. I have to go to sleep now, I'll check back in tomorrow. Thank you for the help so far. |

right, so frigate started up correctly. Now you can open the webUI and use the config editor tab to edit the config according to the documentation. It will tell you if the config you are trying to save is invalid. |

Describe the problem you are having
I installed HACS.
Rebooted.
I went into HACS, downloaded Frigate.
Rebooted.
I went into settings/integrations, pressed 'add integration', searched for Frigate.
I select Frigate. It then asks for the URL to access Frigate. The default is http:https://ccab4aaf-frigate:5000. I tried that and I tried http:https://192.168.1.84:5000 but neither work. Keeps saying 'failed to connect'.
I tried going to http:https://192.168.1.84:5000 but it doesn't work. I get an ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED.
I think I followed the manual correctly. What am I doing wrong?

It's a PI5. Not planning on storing anything. Maybe I'll add a coral later if that helps with Frigate.
