Steve Graham reported in https://bugs.debian.org/796779 that the file /usr/share/cups/mime/mime.types' regex for "application/pdf" failes to recognize PDFs:

application/pdf pdf regex(0,^[\n\r]*%PDF)

Apparently, the escaping for \n and \r is superfluous, and the line should be

application/pdf pdf regex(0,^[\n\r]*%PDF)
