MSI files certainly support compression and this lessmsi utility will extract files from the compressed media, but lessmsi doesn't have a way to add compression to an existing msi.

Sure it's possible. I'm happy to keep open to gauge interest. This isn't something that I'm in need of myself, but I'd be eager to plan and support someone implementing a PR to support this feature.
