3.5.0 with MacTeX 2011 (texlive 2011)

Kevin was nice enough to give me a fix two years ago for my promotion docs.
That was when he was in prep for a 3.0.0 release. Perhaps he'll indulge me now
that I'm up for promotion again. :)

Happened to me too. In fact, it will give an error unles there is a \sidenote before the first apparition of \cite. Weird. Still, no one seems to care since 2011 and I realised the "cite" package is mostly useless [at least for me] inside tufte-latex...
