(Please attach an example .tex file demonstrating the problem or bug.)

Please describe the feature, problem, or bug:

I seem to be unable to reference subfloats properly even with the
'[caption=false]' option activated in the usepackage command for subfig. The
labels are exactly where they should be, but I can't reference the (a), (b),
(c), etc.

Bizarrely, the subfigure package seems to have the opposite problem: you can
reference the subfigures, but not the figure as a whole.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

The sample file should show that you can reference Figure 1, but not Figure 1a
or 1b. Switching to subfigure allows you to reference 1a or 1b, but not 1.

What version of Tufte-LaTeX are you using? With which TeX distribution?

TeXShop 2.37 and XeLaTeX. Here are the headers:

This is pdfTeX, Version 3.1415926-1.40.10 (TeX Live 2009)
 \write18 enabled.

(I also tried (re)downloading v3.5.0 and testing against that in case it was
something subtle)

Please provide any additional information below.
