From trying it out, the only remaining issue to getting Iris installed on a OSX (version 10.8) is that units.py fails to work.

Investigations suggest the reason for this is that we are not using ctypes in the correct way, which makes its functionality architecture dependent. (see http:https://blog.gmane.org/gmane.comp.python.ctypes/month=20120901).

It would be great to get this resolved by 1.1 and officially announce OSX build support!
