Consider making sponsorship available for SALib #317

Hi @willu47 , The link there goes to a 404 for me, I assume only project owners can see it. I'm not against sponsorship (but yet to read through all the pros and cons) and came across https://opencollective.com/ mentioned here (relevant reading), which may be an alternative. |

If I may, I would suggest looking into becoming a NumFOCUS fiscally sponsored project. All the PyData/Scientific Python stack is now part of this and you could definitely join. This would give you a structure to help you channel funds to the project. One aspect worth looking into here is Small Development Grants. It's a program that fund a small project for up to 10K. I do think you could make successful proposals (disclaimer: I am on the review board). Happy to discuss any of these with you and also put you in contact with the right people. |
FYI, I will be at SciPy2023 and will have NumFOCUS' folks in front of me. If there is some interest, I can talk with them about the possibility to join. |
Hey @tupui maybe it's too late but I'd love that. I've been meaning to complete the application form for a while now, just distracted with work. If there's any insight on the decision process, expectations of additional administration for projects that apply, that would be awesome. |
It's not too late, I just arrived there 😉 I will talk with the folks responsible of that at the conf and see how I can help push through. The week after the conf I am happy to meet if you're available. |
So we mostly have everything (CoC, logo, roadmap, websites), the main missing points are:

Thanks @tupui for getting us on their radar. The one that Mariia set up is a bit constraining in my view as it focuses on the SimDec method. But I'm open to having a foot in the Scientific Python Discord or Discuss (in fact I think I already joined, but I don't use Discord much). |
Pleasure, let me know if you want me to do anything else 😃 Happy to chat sometime. For discord, yeah so initially it was really only for SimDec and now she renamed it and hope to get more folks there and talk in general about SA. We could have a real space if wanted. Let me know and I can create channels anywhere. On Scientific Python side, there is a |
Github now offers sponsorship for organisations (e.g. see https://github.com/sponsors/SALib/waitlist).
This would be a neat way to provide more resources to the developers of SALib, help pick up some of balls we have dropped and push SALib towards v2.0.
However, it would require dealing with money, which might sour the open-source experience. It might lead to:
