#PostgreSQL source code installation instructions.
Or use percona-qa/build_postgresql_debug.sh
1) Download source code.
The source code can be found from following locations;
https://www.postgresql.org/ftp/source/
https://git.postgresql.org/gitweb/?p=postgresql.git;a=summary
2) Steps to build debug binary;
./configure --enable-debug --prefix=/pgsql/base # change prefix to the path where you want to build PostgreSQL to
gmake # or make
gmake install # not an actual install, only a "install" (i.e. copy) into the target directory (i.e. the one specified in prefix)
This will install postgres binary files under /pgsql/base.
3) Steps to start postgresql database server
# Database initialization command
/pgsql/base/bin/initdb -D /pgsql/base/data
# Startup command
/pgsql/base/bin/pg_ctl -D /pgsql/base/data -l /pgsql/base/data/pgsql.log start
** To generate coredump start postgres with `-c` option
