There is a new tool google-photos-migrate which is very similar to google-photos-exif but it has these benefits:

A tool like [google-photos-exif](https://github.com/mattwilson1024/google-photos-exif), but does some extra things:

- uses the titles from the .json file to recover previous filenames
- moves duplicates into their own folder
- tries to match files by the title in their .json file
- fixes wrong extensions, identified by [ExifTool](https://exiftool.org/)
- video files won't show up as from 1970
- works for English and German (for more langs fix [this file](./src/meta/find-meta-file.ts), line 31)

Is this something you'd be open to having a PR for here? Or should I just fork it and have it in my own repo?

Hey dude, great job with forking this repo. Essentially my repo is abadonware; I'm not terribly interested in maintaining this script for a long time. In fact, I've not migrated my own gphotos yet to Immich, so I'm very happy with the Immich community continuing the scripting. 😄

Continue working with your fork and do whatever you feel like. I don't have the time nor energy to resolve issues. 👍

Fair enough!
I'm probably gonna translate your python script to ts at some point to integrate this automation info the app directly.
