Ability to turn on server autoupdate in Advanced Mode #116
Comments
I need this too! Thanks |
I need this too! I run Outline server on a raspberry Pi 4B, the sever version is always 1.2.0, and I run another Outline server on Google Cloud Platform, the server version is 1.2.2. It's obviously the server version 1.2.0 is not reachable as good as 1.2.2 to my China friends. But I don't know how to update it by manual. |
Hi,
Thhank you ina dvanced. |
This is more like a feature request, not a bug report I guess.
I've set up an Outline server on Ubuntu in Advanced Mode i.e. not using the Digital Ocean. According to the official FAQ: "Outline servers automatically update with the latest security improvements so that you are always running the latest Outline technology. The automated update process is enabled by using Watchtower, an open-source library that regularly checks and updates the docker image containing the Outline software. Additionally, when you install Outline using the Outline Manager, we will set up a cron job to automatically update the host operating system (Ubuntu) and reboot when necessary. Note that this doesn’t happen on Advanced Mode in order to preserve the existing configuration, assuming the host is being used for other purposes"
So autoupdate is turned off. However I want it to be turned on since my other project running on the same server is not critical and I don't mind autoupdates.
It would be nice if after installing Outline Server in advance mode a question would pop up asking if user wants to turn on autoupdates or not. This is the feature I request for.
By the way is there a way to manually turn on autoupdates?
