The avatar tag {if avatar} content {/if} inside a channel entry tag only works if the variable {avatar_url} is also called. This prevents me from showing just a static icon when an avatar exists. I believe this isn't the intended purpose of this tag as even the documentation states {if avatar} content {/if}.

Does it work if you call {if avatar_url} ... content ... {/if}?
