Skilled Migrant Visas

Australia

Denmark

Finland

  • Intro: Apply for a residence permit with this application if you are coming to Finland to work for a Finnish employer or other employer operating in Finland and you have signed a contract of employment or accepted a binding job offer. A residence permit for an employed person is connected with labour market testing, which means that the employer must establish if there is available labour force within a reasonable time in Finland or within the EU/EEA for the work in question.

Germany

  • Intro: Highly-qualified foreigners are in particular scientists with special technical knowledge, as well as teaching personnel and scientific personnel in prominent positions.

  • Intro: Advantageous ways have been paved for IT specialists outside the European Union/EFTA States (so-called “third countries”) to obtain a work visa in Germany. The type of visa you receive depends on your qualifications and your job offer in Germany. Even if you have neither any formal qualifications nor a university degree, you can still obtain a visa and work as an IT specialist in Germany. Therefore, certain prerequisites must be met.

Hong Kong

  • Intro: The objective of the Scheme is to attract qualified Mainland talents and professionals to work in the HKSAR in order to meet local manpower needs and enhance the HKSAR's competitiveness in the globalised market. The Mainland talents and professionals must possess special skills and knowledge or experience of value to and not readily available or in shortage locally. Admitted talents and professionals must be able to contribute to the operation of the firms and sectors concerned with a view to facilitating economic development in the HKSAR.

  • Intro: It seeks to attract( highly skilled or talented persons to settle in Hong Kong in order to enhance Hong Kong's economic competitiveness.

  • Intro: TechTAS provides a fast-track arrangement for eligible companies to admit non-local technology talent to undertake research and development (R&D) work for them in the HKSAR. Eligible companies would first have to apply for a quota. A company allotted with a quota by the Innovation and Technology Commission (ITC) can accordingly sponsor an eligible person to apply for an employment visa/entry permit within the 24-month quota validity period.

Japan

  • Intro: From April 2023, the Special Highly Skilled Foreign Professional System (J-Skip) will be introduced, and apart from the point system for highly skilled professionals so far, if you have a certain level of academic background or work experience and annual income above a certain level, you will be able to stay as a "highly skilled professional". In the case of status of residence “Highly Skilled Professional No. 2” (Persons with a master's degree or higher and an annual income of 20 million yen or more), period of stay will be indefinite.

Ireland

  • Intro: If you wish to work in Ireland you need to have an Employment Permit which is issued by Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment (DETE). DETE will shortly introduce a new range of employment permits. The correct visa type for a holder of any type of employment permit issued by DETE is the Employment (permits etc.) visa. You can apply for an Employment (Permits etc.) visa up to 3 months before your date of travel to Ireland.
  • Intro: You can apply for an Employment (Scientific Researcher) visa if you wish to come to Ireland for the purposes of carrying out research under a “hosting agreement”.

Macau

  • Intro: The Programme aims to recruit talents with exceptional skills, globally recognised achievements, or significant contributions in specific fields.

Netherland

  • Intro: You need a residence permit to work in the Netherlands as a highly skilled migrant. Only an employer recognised by the IND can apply for a residence permit for you.

New Zealand

  • Length of Stay: Indefinitely

Norway

  • Intro: If you have completed higher education or have completed vocational training, you can apply for a residence permit as a skilled worker. You must normally already have received a job offer, or have your own business.

Singapore

  • Intro: The Employment Pass allows foreign professionals, managers and executives to work in Singapore. Candidates need to earn at least $5,000 a month and have acceptable qualifications.

  • Requirement: Earn a fixed monthly salary of at least $30,000 within the last 1 year.
  • Intro: The Personalised Employment Pass is for high-earning Employment Pass holders and overseas foreign professionals. It is not tied to an employer and offers greater flexibility than an Employment Pass.
  • Length of Stay: 2 years
  • Intro: The S Pass allows mid-level skilled staff to work in Singapore. Candidates need to earn at least $3000 a month and have the relevant qualifications and work experience.

Sweden

  • Intro: You must have been offered a job before you can obtain a work permit. You cannot enter Sweden until the permit has been granted. You cannot obtain a work permit to go to Sweden and look for a job.

UAE

  • Intro: You can apply for this visa, if you:
    1. Have a Bachelor or Master degree from a leading university, accredited by the UAE Ministry of Education, in one of the following disciplines:
      1. Epidemiology and Virology
      2. Artificial Intelligence (AI)
      3. Big data
      4. Computer engineering
      5. Electronics
      6. Software engineering
      7. Electrical engineering
      8. Genetic engineering
      9. Biotechnology engineering
      10. Must be practicing one of the disciplines
  • Length of Stay: 10 years
  • Intro: You can apply for this visa, if you:
    1. Have a doctorate degree attested by the UAE Ministry of Education
  • To Apply:
    1. A doctorate degree, attested by the UAE Ministry of Education in one of the high-priority disciplines
    2. An employment contract attested by the UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation in one of the high-priority disciplines
  • Length of Stay: 10 years

UK

  • Intro: You can apply for a Tier 2 (General) visa if:
    1. you’ve been offered a skilled job in the UK;
    2. you’re from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland

  • Intro: You can apply for a Global Talent visa to work in the UK if you’re a leader or potential leader in one of the following fields:
    1. academia or research
    2. arts and culture
    3. digital technology
  • Length of Stay: 5 years at a time, there’s no limit to how long you can stay in the UK in total, but you will need to renew (‘extend’) your visa when it expires. Each extension can last from 1 to 5 years - you choose how long you want the extension to be.
  • Intro: A Scale-up Worker visa allows you to come to the UK to do an eligible job for a fast-growing UK business (sometimes called a ‘scale-up business’).

US

  • Intro: You may be eligible for this immigrant visa preference category if you are a skilled worker, professional, or other worker:
    1. “Skilled workers” are persons whose job requires a minimum of 2 years training or work experience, not of a temporary or seasonal nature;
    2. “Professionals” are persons whose job requires at least a U.S. baccalaureate degree or a foreign equivalent and are a member of the professions;
    3. The “other workers” subcategory is for persons performing unskilled labor requiring less than 2 years training or experience, not of a temporary or seasonal nature.
