We should look into reusing parts of NationalMap/TerriaJS software where possible, developed mostly by Data61/NICTA:

https://nationalmap.gov.au/about.html

https://github.com/TerriaJS/nationalmap

https://github.com/TerriaJS/terriajs

We can also integrate with NationalMap by exposing WMS/WFS services, amongst other possibilities.

NationalMap (Data61) have already been attempting to integrate some ALA layers into nationalmap.gov.au but ran into issues:

TerriaJS/nationalmap#108

We do need to think about better integration with NCRIS as well as NationalMap and probably other national facilities with 'map layers'. New SP first and a priority SS and SH issues.

This relates to the better positioned AtlasOfLivingAustralia/layers-service#59. Also, as far as I can see, no NationalMap web services?
