  1. Add a search feature
  2. Display images if they are available.
  3. Add a description field (rich text)

I should be able to do this. Do you want the search field to search the specimens that have been added to the profile already?

This has a few unknowns around it. The basic idea is that the UI would provide the ability to search for Type records in the Biocache, not something from the profile itself.

The main unknown is how to handle cases where the desired type specimen is not marked as a Type in Biocache.

Hmm, ok perhaps I'll look for another issue.

Systematists are often aware of Type specimens due to their common usage in the publication process, and may well be a handy source of fact-checking for the collections ecosystem exposed in ALA. So, assuming I'm a competent systematist, I'd want to be able to add an assertion to the relevant specimen asking the source collection if the specimen is/should be flagged as a Type.

The current workaround is for the editor to search Ala for the type and manually paste the link. There is no way to mark a type as a special specimen at the moment.

There is confusion within the community as to how this attribute should be used. Need to get guidance from the community.
