As a user of the ALA I want the search function to return up to date content so I don't miss any information available across the ALA.

Background
BIE Index App indexes ALA content (species, pages, layers, help articles,...) . It is unknown how often the process runs but it seems this does not happen daily or even weekly as new content does not appear straight away in searches or the results content is outdated.

Requirements

  • This tasks requires fixing the underlying index/crawling mechanism to make it possible to update the ALA search index automatically on a daily basis.
  • ALA Taxonomy update/generation should be decoupled and not hold the ability to index the rest of the content.
  • Ideally an admin screen should allow an ALA administrator to manually trigger an update to the ALA search index by content type (datasets, help articles, pages,...).

@adam-collins:

@kylie-m just took us through the demo for this and other species pages improvements and I was wondering if there were plans to cover the last requirement for and admin screen to trigger reindex manually or otherwise understand what the limitations to implement this might be?
