Taipei, Jan. 3 (CNA) The Taiwan Ladies Professional Golf Association (TLPGA) on Friday announced the 2025 Foxconn TLPGA Players Championship will tee off on Feb. 27, with the total prize money increased to US$1.5 million.
Sponsored by Taiwan-based manufacturing giant Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., also known as Foxconn on the global market, the 2025 championship is the second edition of the annual event.
According to the organizers, the championship will be again held at Taoyuan's Orient Golf and Country Club from Feb. 27 to March 2.
In a Friday press release, the organizers said the upcoming tournament will continue the high-point-accumulation, high-payout and high-player-performance observed in 2024.
To further encourage players to perform at their best, Foxconn also increased the total purse from US$1 million to US$1.5 million, on a par with prize money offered by the United States' Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) tour.
The organizers added that since opening up registration for the championship, around 100 professional women golfers from around the world have signed up to take part.
While a finalized roster will be published on Jan. 17, the organizers said Taiwan's Wu Chia-yen (吳佳晏) and Hou Yu-sang (侯羽桑) have been confirmed to participate in the championship.
In addition, former world No. 1 ranked South Korean professional golfer Shin Ji-yai will also play, her first event in Taiwan for seven years.
