Taipei, Dec. 3 (CNA) Wyndham Hotels & Resorts added three Taiwanese hotel operators to its planned expansion in the country, where the New Jersey-based international hotel franchising company saw the opening of a third property under its brand in June, according to statements released on Tuesday.

Joon Aun Ooi, president for the Asia Pacific at Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on behalf of the American company with each of its three new local partners -- Check Hotels Group, Hub Hotel Group and Sun Hao International Hotel -- during a press event in Taipei.

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has worked with Lealea Group and opened "Wyndham Sun Moon Lake" in Nantou County in June and "Ramada Encore By Wyndham Hualien" in eastern Taiwan in March 2020.

Ooi said during Tuesday's press event that the company plans to open a fourth property in Taiwan in 2025, with the goal being to push the total property numbers into double digits.

The American hotel franchising company just marked a major milestone of signing nearly 600 direct franchise agreements in five years in the Greater China market, including Wyndham Sun Moon Lake, in late October.

Hub Hotel Group Chairman and CEO David Wei (魏秋富) said in the company's press statement that he hopes by working with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, the group's 15 properties and nearly 1,000 rooms can improve service standards to international levels.

Wei also said the group established in 2015 will continue to maintain its unique features of properties with local characteristics.

Meanwhile, Check Hotels Group Managing Director Spring Chuang (莊正均) said the company is seeking to build its competitiveness through the new partnership with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, as part of a plan to expand overseas, according to a statement from Check Hotels.

Check Hotels Group operates properties under three Checkinn brands and is part of Dunqian Smart Co., which has 46 properties under 11 brands across Taiwan, several of which it acquired through mergers in recent years, the company website notes.

Sun Hao International Hotel currently has one property of the same name in Yunlin County and Sun Hao Hotel in Taichung.
