Jack Bruce is renowned for his use of the Gibson EB-3 bass, which became integral to Cream's iconic sound both in the studio and during live performances.

CATALOGUE NOTE Jack used this bass amongst others for the 1980 Jack Bruce and Friends Tour with Clem Clempson. Footage from a concert for the German TV show Rockpalast during the tour shows Jack using this Aria. Sold with a certificate of authenticity signed by Jack Bruce.

When jack was on Cream, the band’s manager called the dutch artist group “the fool” to redesign their instruments and clothes. The artists painted Ginger Baker’s drum kit, Eric Clapton’s 1964 Gibson SG, famously known as Gibson SG “the fool”, and Jack’s Fender Bass VI. He used it briefly because he didn’t liked so much.

In a photograph featured in The Guardian, Jack Bruce can be seen with an Ampeg Dan Armstrong Lucite Bass, highlighting his use of this distinctive instrument.

Jack says about this bass "For many years after I found the fabulous Warwick Thumb Bass. we struggled to come up with my idea of the perfect players instrument. At long last here it is. The Jack Bruce JB3 Survivor Bass. The best there is." As you can see, is a copy of a Gibson EB3 with Warwick improvements.

In a photo on Tune Your Sound, Jack Bruce is seen playing a Rickenbacker 4003S bass with a mapleglo finish and black trim during a gig. Although Jack was not typically associated with Rickenbacker basses, this particular instrument belonged to Harry Spooner. There was a misidentification of the bass as a 4003/5, but it is indeed a standard four-string 4003S.
