Camp Hero State Park


Location:Route 27 (Sunrise Hwy) east to its terminus.
Facilities:Picnic areas, beach, trails.
Activities:Surf fishing, hiking, biking, horseback riding, cross-country skiing.
Special Features:Park encompasses a diverse landscape that includes maritime forests, freshwater wetlands, ocean vistas, and bluffs rising from the beach. The park has an extensive trail system as well as excellent surf fishing available 24 hours a day (with permit). A former military base at the park is a registered National Historic Site.
