Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Greg Whittlesea, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Great Southern Football League (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Great work on Ausralian rules articles

[edit]

Love the work you're doing on the SA Aussie rules articles so please keep it up. And I wish I could have played for the Albert Druids. --Roisterer (talk) 23:53, 25 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This article doesn't include any references or any evidence of notability. Please add something ASAP or it'll get deleted.Deb (talk) 12:39, 1 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Excuse me, I have just created the page and am in the process of doing just that, I can't magically do it all in one hit. Have a look at the edit times, it is happening now Screech1616 (talk) 12:47, 1 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Nobody expects you to "do it all in one hit". What other contributors do, if they can't manage to produce a compliant article in one go, is to keep it in their sandbox until it's ready. Deb (talk) 13:48, 1 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Better source request for File:McLaren Vale FC Logo.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for your upload to Wikipedia:

You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talk page. Thank you. Message delivered by Theo's Little Bot (opt-out) 21:07, 2 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This image relates to a logo for an organisation that does not exist anymore. I have provided the link to the SFL Website as the source as that was the organisation that gave me a copy via e-mail, it is not currently published elsewhere on the internet that I can find. Democrats in SA upper 2014

[edit]

Hi - i'm unable to find a statement in the ref provided that says walker and/or castrique are contesting the 2014 state election. As such i've removed it for now. Can you please verify? Thanks. Timeshift (talk) 15:18, 7 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure what's on the page of the paper you're citing, but i found the online version and changed second candidate and ticket name. Second ref here. Can we please stick to things we can reference online to easily verify? I've removed the other candidate, I can't find anything online. Timeshift (talk) 04:46, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure why we would limit to items we can verify online, Wikipedia references many non-online resources. Particularly with current copyright laws, some items may not become available online for 50+ years.Screech1616 (talk) 04:52, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
That's fine, but I found two online sources that are instantly available. And all names given in the article are sourced from online - if they don't have an online page anywhere then it's dubious if they're running. Your ref seems to contradict the two I found. Yes? Timeshift (talk) 04:59, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
No harm in having multiple references. Screech1616 (talk) 05:22, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Your "reference" had the second candidate wrong, and the name wrong, according to the two online sources I found. Timeshift (talk) 06:45, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to Adelaide Wikipedia Users Group meetings

[edit]

Hi, in case you're not already aware of it, a group of Adelaide Wikipedians has been meeting on a monthly basis since April, with the aim of improving the scope and quality of articles on South Australian topics. We meet at UniSA's City West campus, and our 23 July meeting will have a guest speaker from the National Trust of SA.

This coming Sunday, 6 July, we will be holding our first Edit-a-thon. This will be an opportunity for new editors to come and learn either basic or more advanced editing from very experienced wikipedians, so if you know anyone who would like to get some practice, please let them know - and beginners will be very welcome. Roussea

[edit]

Hello, Agne/Wine made a redirect for Roussea to the grape variety Trebbiano. Roussea however is at least also a genus of plants. It strikes me that the Trebbiano article does not list Roussea as one of the synonyms, which seems strange because it does list a great many other synonyms. The question is what to do with the redirect. I prefer to "have" it for the plant genus and add a hatnote for the grape synonym. Since Agne27 does not seem to be active, and you are the first participator in the Wine project that is active and stumbled on, I turn to you. Please tell me how you think I could best deal with the redirect. Kind regards, Dwergenpaartje (talk) 10:46, 16 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I do not really have much expertise in varieties, suggest posting this query at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Wine as there are some pretty cluey folk there that would probably give some good guidance.Screech1616 (talk) 11:35, 16 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Fair Use in Australia campaign update

[edit]
I'm writing you this followup message, as you took the time to vote in support of a Wikipedia banner campaign for the introduction of Fair Use in Australia.
After much planning and coordination with the WMF, Australian Digital Alliance, and Electronic Frontiers Australia, as of Monday the banner-campaign is active on English Wikipedia to a portion of logged-out readers in Australia (technical details). The banners direct people to this page on Meta: FairCopyrightOz. That page, alongside lots of information, further directs people towards the campaign website faircopyright.org.au where Australians are invited to write to their local MP to express support of Fair Use. If you are interested in supporting this campaign, please, send a letter yourself using the template letter provided at that link.
Furthermore, and with the support of the ADA & EFA, we have received fantastic media coverage - with article "Fair Use: Wikipedia targets Australians in bid to change the law" appearing on page 2 of the Sydney Morning Herald and page 10 of the Melbourne Age on Monday's edition. It was for a time the 3rd most read article the Fairfax website, and Fair Use was "trending" on Twitter in Australia. We are running the account @FairCopyrightOz on twitter, and we are tracking other press-mentions on the talkpage on Meta.
Today, day 2, we published a detailed post about the campaign on the Wikimedia Blog, ran an "Ask Me Anything" Q&A session on the Australia page in Reddit, and [by happy coincidence of timing] the article History of fair use proposals in Australia appeared on the en.wp mainpage as a Did You Know. [The creation of that "history of..." article was a specific request arising from in the community consultation in which you voted].
And, most importantly, in a little more than a day nearly 800 letters to MPs have been sent encouraging them to support the Productivity Commission's recommendation to adopt Fair Use in Australia. I urge you - please add your own message.

Sincerely, Wittylama 16:20, 23 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Association Football in Portland, Oregon

[edit]

Thanks for thinking of the two team, but as you can see from the lede sections in both article, they are not "football" clubs, they are "soccer" clubs. Since "football" isn't even in the names, it's highly unlikely that a reader would be confused about the topic. I don't think that they need a hatnote to the disambiguation page, but you could add them to a see also section on that page. Walter Görlitz (talk) 14:42, 29 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Dear User:Screech1616

As a member of the "WikiProject Australian rules football" it would be good to hear your opinion on a current debate occurring on the 2018 AFL season talk page.

The debate centres around whether or not a third column should be included in the club attendance table to display "home state games vs. interstate opposition".

The main justification is that Victorian clubs play on average 7 home derbies each year compared to non-victorian clubs who play only 1 home derby each year. This provides an average home figure for Victorian clubs which is inflated as their home games have the fans of other Victorian clubs attending.

Please provide whether you support or oppose this proposal for AFL Club attendance tables.

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Kangarilla FC Logo.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Kangarilla FC Logo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Pbrks (talk) 16:32, 18 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to participate in a research

[edit]

Hello,

The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.

You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.

The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .

Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.

Kind Regards,

WMF Research Team
