DESCRIPTION This photo is of the original sidewheeler "T.J. Potter", built in Portland, Oregon in 1888. It was 230 feet long and carried 659 tons. Notable is the beautiful intricate carving on the wheelhousing, which was removed when it was rebuilt in 1901. The second version was only slightly longer but was much heavier. It was abandoned in 1921.
