Rišpet - LGBT Association Split was established in February 2013, by previous years' Split Pride volunteers (2011/2012). There was a strong need and will for Pride to be organized by the members of local LGBT community for the community. The purpose of Rišpet is to deal with problems of violence towards LGBT persons, to empower and educate the community, thereby making it more sensible to LGBT problematics.

Rišpet is an NGO that formed LGBT Center Split, the space dedicated to LGBT community, their families, friends and all those who want to take part in the activities of the Centre. Also organize Split Pride and work on the rights of LGBT people.

Rišpet, is old croatian/dalmatian word that means Respect. Respect that this NGO believes that every person has right to.

LGBT Association Rišpet has been active for a year now, throughout which it has been successfully achieving all of its objectives.

It organizes various formal and informal activities for the local LGBT community, including film screenings, thematic workshops, exhibitions, public forums, participates in the Pride marches, festivals and conferences in our country and the region. Past achievements are based on a large volunteer potential of the local LGBT community. Given that those accomplishments are achieved only thanks to the volunteers and collaboration with other NGOs, without any financial resources, it is highly probable that these activities will be maintained in the future as part of a new and to this date the only LGBT center in our area. Educating volunteers about the position of LGBT people in Croatia, as well as on methods and possibilities of their participation in the struggle for realization of the rights for a decent life, free of violence and discrimination, we want to encourage them to think critically questioning the patriarchy, heteronormativity and the generally process of re-traditionalization and models that inhibit the development of democratic processes based on the principles of equality, justice and freedom. The intention is that young volunteers take part as the leaders in various activities of the LGBT center. We are also in process of forming a volunteer team which would systematically and actively work on finding, writing and applying for projects since this is the main financial resource for the center's further sustainability.
