In Hindus there are many castes such as Tyagi, Bhrahmin, Gujjar, Schedule Caste etc. Muslims castes mainly belong to lower section such as Dhobi and Teli.

Machhra village has contributed during 1857 revolt against English government. There were many residents who actively participated in Indian freedom movement during 1911-1947.

Village is very well known for its progressive contribution in field of education, engineering, journalism, military etc. However village is lagging in agricultural activities mainly due to irrigation water shortage.
