Three Leagues

edit

A book I am reading (The Thirty Years War by Peter H. Wilson) always uses the name "Rhetia" or "Rhetian Free State" to refer to the Three Leagues of the early-modern period. Is it appropriate to add a section to that effect? How common was the name Rhetia/Raetia for the region at that late date? Fishal (talk) 06:10, 10 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Y chromosome haplogroup G

edit

While it does seem to be true that Y haplogroup G is found in rather high percentages (for G, 8%) in Switzerland, the main clusters of G there do not seem to match those found in Tuscany. In particular, the G2a3b1a-L140* DYS388=13 main cluster which is extremely common in the former Germania Superior seems to have a very different distribution from the other subclades of G2a found in Italy south of the Alps, but has close matches in England. No one ever said that the Etruscans settled in large numbers around Strassbourg. This section is inaccurate according to the latest evidence.
