Yellow Glow. The XY Falcon was built from Oct 1970- March 1972 A mild facelift of the XW Falcon, the XY got a new divided plastic grille and revised tail lights. The XY was the best of the 2nd generation Aussie Falcons and in GT and GTHO form is one of the most collectible Australian cars. The GT, now got the famous 'shaker' protruding through the bonnet, restyled side mirrors and side stripes. Mechanically the XY was very similar to the XW An HO version was also available, with front spoiler, the old Phase 2 engine was carried over from the XW which had 750 cfm carb, solid camshaft, lifters, bigger pushrods. From May 1971 to Nov 1971, 300 Phase 3 GTHOs were made, they got the rear boot spoiler, also extractors, 780cfm carb, a revised camshaft and harmonic balancer producing 380bhp, 3 diff ratios were available to choose from.
