Abstract:
This article deals with the work of Germán Bernácer (Alicante, 1883-1965), who many people attribute the birth of macroeconomics. It focuses in the main concepts of theory of availabilities, the dynamics of generating and distributing income and the determination of goods’ prices and interest, based on his book Sociedad y Felicidad. Un Ensayo de Mecánica Social (Society and Happiness: an Essay on Social Mechanics), and all of them are compared with Keynes’ theory. Besides it is included a vision of contemporary macroeconomics through mathematical expression to the demand for and supply of money based on his theory of availabilities and on the dynamic formulation of the identity savings and investment.
