English: A convex lens with rays emitted by an off-axis object. Meridional and saggital planes are marked as "M" and "S" respectively. Due to astigmatism (strongly exaggerated here), the image planes "B" are different for rays in the meridional and saggital planes. Deutsch: Konvexlinse mit Strahlen, die von einem Objekt abseits der optischen Achse ausgehen. Die Meridional- und Sagittalebene sind als "M" und "S" bezeichnet.
