Most of us remember these foam "Earth" balls, a classic corporate swag give away from trade shows and open houses, hiring fares and job fairs at college... In Teradyne, some service-flavored part of the company had gotten money to give everyone one of these balls with their name and phone number stamped on it, and Mr./Mrs Potato Head hands and feet added. Weird. A while later, upper management announced they were closing our San Jose facility (Too expensive to do business in San Jose.... So we were all schedule to loose our jobs on Jan 1, 2006, and we left in 1s and 2s to go to new jobs. And someone started a tradition of pinning their name to these hapless symbols of corporate life. And modifying them. Soon, everyone who left was making one and they were being referred to as the Employee Souls. So its collective art in the workplace, and even more personal than the kite in the background and other small touches. I've got 2 other pictures if it up. There were over 100... |
