The Austin Police Department SWAT team responded to reports of shots fired in north Austin Sunday afternoon, but did not find the person responsible.

Officers responded to the Cypress Point Apartments, located at 212 West Lola Drive, around 1:24 p.m. A resident reported hearing multiple gunshots coming from a nearby apartment.

When officers arrived, they noticed multiple bullet holes coming from the apartment in question.

They forced entry into the apartment and found multiple shell casings. The SWAT team was called in to assist.

“The apartment was eventually cleared, and nobody was located in the apartment,” Corporal Jose Mendez said. “At this time, we don’t have anyone in custody, and no one was reported as injured. There is evidence showing that multiple gunshots were fired within the apartment, however again, no one was injured.”

Detectives will remain on scene to figure out exactly what happened. Gang activity has been reported at the complex before.

APD asks that nearby residents keep an eye out for suspicious behavior and call 911 immediately if they notice anything.
